The Corrupt LUCKNOW police.

Under normal circumstances , this would not have been my new post on my blog, but lucknow police has forced me to drop my ongoing project and write against them.

Though I am not a critic of the police force and I rate them in high esteem, but my experience on 12/7/09 has made me change my opinion for the men in khaki.

On the above mentioned date, I along with my electrician and driver was coming from charbagh when on the hazratganj crossing the light turned red and we were on the zebra crossing, being an honest citizen I asked my driver to reverse a little in accordance with the traffic laws. When my driver was reversing, a home guard jawan without my prior permission sneaked onto the rear seat of my car and ordered my driver to drive to the check post.

When I asked why and how did you came inside the car he said “zayda mat bolo sahib ko batana”. I asked my driver to do as he was saying; I wanted to see what he was actually up to. When he reached near the check post he said “sahib ke pass jao ge ya hum settle kar dein”. I said I will deal with your (so called) sahib. After entering the check post he walked to Raju Singh a constable in the Lucknow traffic police. He said to me in the roughest possible manner that I will have to pay RS.1000 as fine for breaching traffic laws.

I said to him “will you please tell me what laws I have breached.”

He replied : “zayada jaban mat chalao abhi sara kagaj le ke rakh lenge tho sahi ho jao gay”.

My driver signaled me to cool down.

Then he talked to Raju Singh and asked me to give him RS.100. I said that ask Rajuji to go for challan I will contest the case in court but will not give a single penny as bribe, come what may.

The sub inspector who during all this argument was eating his share of banana said that “court mein paisa dein dengey hum ko de ke mamla jaldi khatam nahi kareingay”

I said “you should have stopped him from this illegal practice being his senior officer but you, yourself are a part of this corrupt practice, and you do your work. I am son of a lawyer I know how to handle cases in the court, I will make sure I am not paying unjustified fine and people responsible for causing trouble to me will have to answer to court.

He yelled “court ki daus dikahte ho hum ko”

I replied “court ki dauns nahi reality batiyee hai”

Before this conversation could have taken up an ugly turn one more sub inspector who had came in barely 3 minutes ago said me to take my paper and leave. He then asked his counterpart to cool down.

He (in a rough manner) said to Raju Singh to return me my papers and behave properly.

After this scolding from his senior I could easily see anger on his face and his inability to disobey his senior.

His senior murmured “sale minster ke gaon wale hain”

I picked up my paper and walked out.

Will anybody tell me who will pay for my lost time and mental harassment.

After today’s experience I have lost the faith I had in the police department.

I can only hope that this comes to the knowledge of some top official and he takes some harsh steps in order to discourage people like Raju Singh.

Enjoying being a Trainer

By Shadab Hussaini

For some time now, I have been working as a management consultant. I love my job and I am enjoying being a trainer. There are many incidents and experiences, which I would like to share with my dear readers.

Imparting training is a very interesting job, but at times, it can be equally boring. In my last workshop, which was with the working people of a management school, I was overwhelmed with the outcome. There were few people who were more than double my age and were working with BSNL in the capacity of Deputy General Manager and other similar positions. When I started my workshop with an ice breaking session I was not very sure of whether I would be enjoying this particular workshop as I was under pressure after knowing the background and the profile of participants. I recalled “my resolution that I would always give my best and not think about the end result”, and started the workshop. When I asked after a break, if anybody had any query, one of the very senior members of my workshop addressed me as sir. I immediately asked him to address me by my name, he asked me whether I was embarrassed being called sir by an aged person. I replied to him that I am a corporate trainer and i think that everybody is equal and all these salutations should be scrapped. When he asked me why these salutations should be scrapped, I explained to him that all these words like sir, boss, sahib and huzzoor leads to inequality, which is against the corporate world and India’s culture. He sat down with a smile. I concluded my workshop after an hour and many people congratulated me. I saw that gentleman sneaking out without even acknowledging my gesture.

Today when I was checking my mail, I saw a mail from an unidentified person. On reading that mail I recalled that it was “him”. He said, “At the time you were explaining to me why I should call you by your name, I thought that you were doing it out of stupidity, but now when I analyzed it and experimented it in my office I should say that the atmosphere of my team has changed significantly”. He in his mail apologized to me.

Now I can say that I have changed one person’s idea and am enjoying being a trainer.

This is one of the experiences which I have shared with you people I will come up with many more in near future.

MOCKERY OR SYMPATHY

“MOCKERY OR SYMPATHY”
THE RESULT OF THE LATEST EXAMS IS OUT AND AS EXPECTED, MOST THE STUDENTS HAVE MANAGED TO PASS, NOT ONLY TO PASS RATHER THEY HAVE OUTSMARTED UNIVERSITY IS THINKING. I KNOW THAT MY THIS ARTICLE IS GOING TO ATTRACT A LOT OF CRITICISM AND WILL BE IN A LOT OF CONTROVERSIES, BUT THAT IS NOT GOING TO DETER ME FROM PUTTING THIS ARTICLE OF MINE ONLINE.
MOST OF THE STUDENTS HAVE NOT ONLY MANAGED TO PASS, RATHER THEY HAVE SCORED MORE THAN WHAT THEIR TEACHERS HAD PREDICTED, AND THEY MIGHT HAVE GUESSED FOR THEMSELVES. FEW STUDENTS HAVE SCORED MORE PERCENTAGE THAN WHAT THEY ACTUALLY DESERVE (THOUGH I KNOW FEW NAMES BUT I WILL RESTRAIN MYSELF FROM NAMING THEM). I WANT TO ASK A VERY SIMPLE QUESTION FROM THE MANAGEMENT AND THE STUDENTS ALSO.
IS THE LENIENCY IN THE ATTITUDE OF THE UNIVERSITY IS THE MOCKERY OF THOSE STUDENTS WHO STUDY DAY N NIGHT AND THEN THEY GET 90% OR SO OR SYMPATHY TOWARDS THOSE STUDENTS WHO DO NOT STUDY AT ALL, I BET THEY MIGHT NOT BE KNOWING THE NAMES OF THEIR SUBJECT, THEY MIGHT NOT HAVE ATTENDED EVEN A SINGLE CLASS, THEY ARE SO GOOD AT STUDIES THAT THEY NEVER BOTHER TO OPEN THEIR BOOKS IN THE ENTIRE SEMESTER AND THEN THEY ALSO PILE-UP SOME WHERE NEAR 90%.(THANKS TO LENIENT APPROACH OF THE EXAMINATION CENTRE STAFF AND A LOT OF HELP OF PEER GROUP.)
NOW AS I HAVE PUT THIS CASE IN a CLEAR FORMAT BEFORE MY ESTEEMED READER I WANT YOUR OPINION THAT WHAT KIND OF STUDENTS WOULD YOU LIKE TO PREFER FIRST CATEGORY (WHO ACTUALLY GET WHAT THEY DESERVE) OR THE SECOND CATEGORY (WHO ARE OBNOXIOUS WEED). THE DECISION IS UP TO YOU IF YOU THINK STUDENTS IN THE FIRST CATEGORY DESERVES MORE ATTENTION AND FAIR DISTANCE IN THE MARKS THAN THE SECOND CATEGORY COUNTERPARTS DESERVE, THEN PLEASE CRITICIZE THIS ATTITUDE OF THE MANAGEMENT AND ALSO OF THOSE STUDENTS WHO ARE INDULGED IN THIS KIND OF ACTIVITY.
AT LAST I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT I HAVE NOT WRITTEN THIS ARTICLE REGARDING A SINGLE STUDENT OR A GROUP OF STUDENTS , BUT IF THEY STILL FEEL OFFENDED, I WOULD NOT SAY SORRY RATHER I WILL SUGGEST THAT THEY SHOULD MEND THEIR WAY AND BEHAVE LIKE AN OFFENDER AND CORRECT THEIR ILL DEEDS.
